Topping: 1 kg apples A little ground cinnamon 2 packs of Dr. Oetker Original Vanilla Instant Pudding 750 ml (3/4 lit.) cider 250 g sugar 1 pack Dr. Oetker Vanilla Sugar 400-500 g whipping cream 2 packs Dr. Oetker Cream Stabiliser Cocoa powder |

| Pastry: Mix together the flour and Backing powder, sieve into a bowl and add sugar, vanilla sugar, egg, butter and water. Start working together the ingredients with a hand-operated electric whisk (pastry beaters) at the lowest setting, then switch to the highest setting. Knead into a smooth pastry on a work surface. The pastry may be wrapped in foil and chilled for 1 hour. Roll 2/3 of the pastry out and use it to cover a greased loose bottomed cake tin base (O 26 or O 28 cm). Prick the pastry several times with a fork. Place the cake tin ring around the base. Make a roll out of the remaining pastry, arrange it around the outside of the tin and press to create a 3-4 cm high edge. |

| Topping: Wash the apples, then peel, quarter, de-core and cut into thin slices. Arrange the slices on the base. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. Make a pudding using the instant pudding mix and following the instructions on the pack but only use cider, sugar and vanilla sugar. Pour over the apples while still hot and bake. |

| Conventional
oven: approx 170°C (pre-heated). Fan oven: approx 150°C (not pre-heated). Gas: mark 2-3 (not pre-heated). Baking time: approx 60 minutes. |

| After baking, open the oven door and leave the cake inside the oven for 1 hour. Leave to cool overnight. Remove from tin. Whip the cream and cream stabiliser until stiff. Spread over the cooled cake and dust with cocoa powder. | |||
| Tip: You can substitute the cider with apple juice or apple juice and white wine. |
